BER Airport is an international commercial airport located south of the Berlin city boundary in the federal state of Brandenburg. Its total capacity is 34 million passengers a year, split between Terminal 1 with 28 million and Terminal 2 with 6 million passengers. Extensions are planned in order to reach an annual handling capacity of 58 million passengers by 2035. Construction of the airport began in 2006 and, after the opening date had been postponed seven times, it opened in October 2020. The airport is operated by Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH and is entirely in public ownership. The airport is especially popular with holidaymakers and offers flights with a variety of airlines such as Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines.
BER Airport is very well connected to the motorway network. BER Airport lies to the south-east, about 25 km from Berlin city centre. Coming from the city centre, the journey can take about 40 minutes depending on traffic. BER Airport is best reached via the A113 motorway or the B96a federal road. After around 15 minutes on the A113 you join the A100 Berlin city motorway and then the A10 (Berliner Ring).
To get to Terminal 5, you need to take the "Schönefeld Süd" junction.
A large number of parking operators have set up near the airport to offer parking spaces to air passengers. Some operators have drop-off points in the immediate vicinity of Berlin Brandenburg Airport, for example on Melli-Beese-Ring. A total of 11 offers are available for comparison: shuttle car parks are usually the cheapest, while valet and terminal parking offer more comfort at higher prices. Early bookers get the best rates.
The cheapest way to park at Berlin Brandenburg Airport is usually with private operators whose car parks are about 5 to 15 minutes from the airport in Waltersdorf, Bohnsdorf or at Schönefeld station — the shuttle transfer to the terminal is included in the price. The cheapest offers include, for example:
1. My Parkplace
2. 123 park fly
3. McParking P2
At the airport itself, car park P107 is particularly cheap, but it is about 1.7 km or a 20-minute walk from Terminal 1.
With the shuttle service you book a parking space near the airport including the transfer to the terminal. You drive to the car park stated — many operators are only about 5 to 15 minutes from the airport, for instance in Waltersdorf, Bohnsdorf or at Schönefeld station — and are taken to the airport terminal by shuttle bus together with your luggage within a few minutes. On your return journey you are picked up from the airport again and brought back to your car. The price includes the parking space and the transfer to the airport (both ways).
With the valet service at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, your car is handed over directly at the airport terminal. You receive a telephone number with your booking confirmation and call the parking operator’s attendant about 30 minutes before arriving at the terminal to agree an exact meeting point. After the handover, your vehicle is parked for you in the car park or multi-storey car park stated. On your return journey the car is brought back to the airport and you can set off home immediately. Some operators have drop-off points in the immediate vicinity of the airport, for example on Melli-Beese-Ring.
The P1 and P2 multi-storey car parks are right by Terminal 1 — from there it is only a 1 to 2-minute walk to the terminal (maximum entry height 2.00 m). Car park P6 is about 500 m or a 7-minute walk away, and the P4 car sharing car park about a 4-minute walk. Cheaper options are the P3 multi-storey car park with an included transfer service (about 10 minutes, maximum entry height 2.00 m) and the particularly cheap car park P107, which is about 1.7 km or a 20-minute walk from Terminal 1. For Terminal 2, the P7 and P8 parking areas are available right next to it.
Yes, there are Kiss & Fly zones in front of Terminals 1 and 2 where stopping briefly is free of charge. These areas are ideal for dropping off or picking up passengers. Once the free minutes have elapsed, the standard short-stay rates apply, so longer waits should be moved to the designated short-stay parking areas. If you are waiting for a call from an arriving passenger, you can also use one of the free waiting zones outside the terminal area.
In the multi-storey car parks at Berlin Brandenburg Airport the maximum entry height is 2.00 metres — this applies among others to the terminal-side car parks P1 and P2 as well as to the P3 car park. For taller vehicles, open-air car parks such as P4 and P6 with no height restriction are the better choice. These areas are suitable for vans, motorhomes or vehicles with roof boxes.
Yes, there are charging points for electric vehicles in the P3 car park, among others. They are signposted on the ground floor and can be used while you are parked. Reservations are currently not possible, so arriving early makes sense. Other parking operators around the airport offer additional charging options with more flexible conditions.
Yes, Berlin Brandenburg Airport has accessible parking spaces close to the terminal entrances and lifts in all parking areas. Holders of an EU disabled parking badge benefit from concessions, such as extended free parking periods or discounts on parking charges. For details, it is advisable to check with the parking service on site.
With most operators on ParkingList you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before arrival — the exact deadlines are stated with each offer and in your booking confirmation; rebooking there is usually possible by cancelling free of charge and making a new booking. A different rule applies to the official car parks of Berlin Brandenburg Airport (terminal parking directly from the airport): cancellation is only possible if the chargeable add-on product „Stornoschutz“ (cancellation protection) was selected when booking. The terms and conditions linked in the booking process are decisive.
The booking is paid for online by credit card or PayPal and confirmed immediately by email. ParkingList does not charge any additional booking fees.
Many operators secure their sites with fencing, lighting, CCTV or staff. The security features a particular car park offers are stated in the respective offer description — and the verified customer reviews will also help you form a judgement.
Some operators accept oversized vehicles, in some cases for a surcharge. What counts are the details on maximum dimensions and entry height in the respective offer — multi-storey car parks usually have height restrictions of around 2 metres. If in doubt, ask the operator before booking.
The earlier, the cheaper: the lowest-priced allocations are often sold out weeks in advance during the holiday season. It is best to book as soon as your travel dates are fixed — with free cancellation up to 24 hours before arrival (with most operators) there is no risk.
